My Classes
I am well-versed in a number of pedagogies. After meeting a student and having an introductory lesson, I choose the method(s) that I think will be best for the new pianist.
For young beginners, I keep time in our lessons for natural exploration of the keyboard, and play games to learn basic foundational musical elements.
The benefits you’ll see with piano lessons are multifold. Kids will have something "of their own” to work on, giving them a sense of pride and ownership. As lessons continue and students’ skills & confidence grow, the benefits multiply. Students learn the value of perseverance as we progress through our curriculum. You will easily see progress as we reach learning goals & milestones.
Course of study follows the school year, and includes assessments and recitals. These are opportunities for the student to show off their progress.

In an introductory lesson, I meet the student and discuss goals. We will have a chance to sit together at the piano or keyboard and have a short lesson, and I will assess the student's interest and aptitude.
There is no commitment to proceed with lessons. This is a great chance to see if we align and can work together.

30 Minute Lessons

30 minute lessons are ideal for kids aged 4-6, or those wanting to learn music for the first time.
We meet weekly at your home and cover subjects crucial to building good musical understanding and proper playing technique.
The student can expect to learn how to read music; basics of ear training; theory and technique; and how to play pieces by understanding and identifying musical patterns.
45 Minute Lessons

45 Minute Lessons
45 minute lessons are for kids 7 and up, or those practicing for an upcoming exam or performance.
We meet weekly at your home, and expand on themes from 30 minute lessons. In 45 minutes, we delve deeper into ear training and how to play by ear; explore a wide variety of musical styles to play on the piano; work on musical theory; and discuss important musical history.
